DRIFFIELD 21st CELEBRATION.
STEAM AND VINTAGE RALLY 2010.
Following our rally committee meeting last week, I am delighted that our committee fully supported our
idea of a joint 21st celebration. I'm not sure how much support you can muster but between us I hope
that we can make a great weekend from the idea.
I can make room for up to 15 cars and am currently working on the possibility of providing a covered
exhibition area. Access to the site can be made available from Thursday 12th August (the rally being
14/15th). Runs out to seaside resorts or other local attractions in the wolds area can be arranged,
but it would be good if the cars were available from mid day for public display and a slot in the ring
during both days of the rally.
We can be very flexible and I'm sure between us we can make a great weekend of it for everyone. We will
get some editorial in Old Glory and the local papers nearer the time. We have a charity run for cancer
research into the town on the Saturday evening which I hope you will all attend.
I am discussing the expenses side of things with our treasurer and hope to be able to make some contribution
to cover some of the costs involved.

I'm the organiser of the Swindon Railway Festival (11 and 12 September) at the STEAM Museum of the
Great Western Railway in Swindon. To celebrate the 175 anniversary of the Great Western Railway this
year I'm organising a large model railway exhibition and steam event at the Museum and I'm pleased
to announce the British Steam Car will be making it's last public appearance at the event. We also
have a traction engine display to compliment the fine steam locomotives we have in the Museum.
To add some more 'steam' to the event and was wondering if any of your members/colleagues or friends
with steam cars, vans, lorries etc would be interested in attending our event to showcase their vehicles?

Didcot Christmas Steam Fair
I am organising a Christmas Street Fair on Thursday 25th November form 4pm -9pm in Didcot Oxfordshire.
The theme this year is Steam celebrating 175th anniversary of the Great Western Railway. Whilst we have
Didcot Railway Centre and their fine steam locomotives in our town we want to celebrate the event with all
things steam, steam funfair, traction engines, rollers etc etc. I wondered if you had any members near
to Oxfordshire that would like to come along and take part in our parade. We have a lovely old garage in
our street who always has a great collection of cars and would be very welcoming to some steam cars. If
you are able to suggest anyone who might be interested we would be pleased to get in contact with them.

A number of our member clubs have expressed concern that the nearest Sunday to 23 April in 2011 is Easter
Sunday, and the following weekend is a bank holiday.
To avoid a clash with Easter and inevitably heavy holiday traffic a decision has been made to alter the
date of Drive It Day to Sunday 17 April 2011.
We appreciate that many clubs and organisations plan their events calendar a long way in advance and we hope
that this early announcement will make it possible for clubs, individuals and organisations to support the
day next year.
